We entered the market and walked straight into a tide of kinetic energy.
A steady buzz,
A jostling of elbows.

Nimble fingers press dough into perfectly shaped mandu.

The delicate clatter of metal chopsticks.

The rhythm of a knife, as piles of noodles appear like magic on a cutting board.

The whirring sound of mung beans being ground into paste.

Sizzling oil.  Shuffling feet.  Chewing.  Laughing.  Hot stacks of bindaetteok.  The smell of gochujang, of cinnamon, wafting through the air.  Sundae stacked a mile high.

Little stools.  Little lunch counters.  Big bowls of bibimbap…
