The mascot of the taphouse

Like Alice and the rabbit hole, we kind of fell into this place.  It is a little corner spot, filled with Tim Burtonesque artwork, rockin’ tunes, and hypnotic surf videos projected onto a large screen.  Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the amazing selection of beer!   A big cooler dominating the back wall is chock full of bottles (Brooklyn Brewery, Wichwood Brewery, and Red Brick Brewery are represented to name a few)  and in the front- hanging from the ceiling in all of its splendor:  a chalkboard menu boasting 16 delicious craft brews…on tap!  For those who have been living in Korea (especially those of us who have been living outside of the city), you know how exciting this is.  Spend a few weekends drinking Hite and Cass, and you will know what I mean…

“Choose”, says the rabbit….

We were excited to see that the tap house offered four exclusive beers- all named after great surf destinations in Bali- the owner’s favourite place to catch waves.  (Seminyak and Ku-de-ta tasted great- perhaps I will have to chance to visit in person one day.)  It was our first time imbibing a locally produced micro-brew, and we were not disappointed.  The craft beer revolution is a a newly emerging scene in South Korea, and one that seems to be growing rapidly.  This is very good news.

Needless to say, we became rather dedicated to our cause: saturating our deprived taste buds with the complex flavours of finely crafted beers.  Have I mentioned that this is a perfect place to spend an afternoon?  I swear I heard a voice whisper “drink me…”  And yes, things became curiouser and curiouser.

P.S.  – The chicken wings are good, too!
